On occasion, Lucille teaches workshops in weaving.

WEAVING WOOLY WADMAL WEARABLES or handwoven felted clothing is the theme of this workshop. Students will weave samples using various weights of wool and mohair. After exploring sett, beat and structure, students will weave their own boiled wool vest. The fabric will be fulled, steamed and cut in class under the guidance of the instructor. The fabric leftovers will be used to learn a variety of sewn and decorative joins. Numerous samples swatches will be discussed and slides will be presented.

Lower Right: Grandma’s Stitches, 1994. Detail of boiled wool vest, handwoven, pieced, embellished, 4 shaft, wool, mohair, a few velvet inserts, velvet binding. Inspiration came from a velvet patchwork quilt embroidered with unusual stitches. It was made by my grandmother.
